NEW INFORMATION

SOCIAL ACTION
THREE IMPORTANT THINGS FOR THIS WEEK
ONE Threats against State Representative Cynthia Johnson and removal of her committee assignments. The Social Action Committee received numerous inquiries regarding the action taken by Michigan Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield in response to Rep. Cynthia Johnson’s social media posts. She responded to threats against her life and was disciplined, so sorors wondered what response our Sorority would have.
At this time, the Sorority has not made a statement, but always encourages members to let their voices be heard and to address actions taken by elected officials as individual citizens. For example, some members of the Social Action committee have indicated that, as individuals, they will contact the speaker regarding their concerns. If you wish to contact Rep. Chatfield his information is as followed:
Office: Speaker Lee Chatfield, 162 Capitol Building, Lansing, MI 48933
Phone: (517) 373-2629
Email: LeeChatfield@house.mi.gov

TWO The Electoral College met on Monday, December 14 to vote on the next president and vice president, based upon the November 3 presidential election. For more information on what occurs and the next steps toward January 20, 2021, take a look at the following site and article:

THREE We are still being asked to help get all registered voters in Georgia to the polls for the Senate Run Off. Early voting starts Monday, December 14, and the election concludes on January 5, 2021. The two major ways sorors can assist is through making financial donations and/or volunteering to get the vote out.
