Camp, Chair Stacia Little, Co-Chair Dereka McClay, Subcommittee Lead SOCIAL ACTION THREE IMPORTANT THINGS FOR THIS WEEK ONE The 32nd Annual Delta Days at the Nation’s Capital virtually, April 24th & April 25th. The registration fee will be $50 for Alumnae Chapter members, but the registration date has not been announced. It is also unclear whether we will be asked to support Destination 22 for our collegiate sorors, who will participate in DDNC on April 17th. This year presents a unique opportunity for sorors to participate at a lower cost and without the need to travel. Please save the dates and we’ll have more information to follow soon. TWO The DST Social Action Commission the national body that guides all activities of the chapter’s Social Action Committees, will host a webinar, “Redistricting 101” on Wednesday, February 17 from 8-9:30 p.m. The webinar will feature leaders from across the country to instruct all Deltas on redistricting and advocating for the best map on the state and local level. All Deltas are encouraged to attend the workshop and participate in their chapter’s redistricting efforts. We invite all chapter sorors to participate with the DAC Social Action Committee and redistricting efforts taking place in our service area. We need sorors to assist in observing the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission meetings; assisting planning and implementing virtual community forums; coordinating with subject matter experts regarding “drawing lines” or creating maps for the Congressional and state legislative offices; and helping us to spread the important word that redistricting matters to African Americans, to people of color, and to Detroiters. It is important and there is a role they can and should play. If you are interested in helping with this effort, please email us at socialaction@detroitdeltas.org THREE D4Women in Action is an action-oriented social welfare and advocacy organization under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code created by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. We received notification about the creation of the organization during the 2020 Midwest Regional Meeting and it is now operational! All sorors are asked to go the website, https://delta4womeninaction.org/ for information on how to support. Donations are being accepted. D4 Women in Action merchandise is available.
